Roman blinds are made of soft fabric which is divided into horizontal panels and is raised and lowered using a gear chain mechanism.

Roman blinds can be mouned inside or outside window recesses or on doors as shown in the image.

When Roman blinds are raised the panels do not retract fully and one length of fabric is left hanging. This may be a problem in bathrooms because the top vent window will be partially blocked.
