Wisteria covered eco homes in Bury St Edmunds

goodfellows eco homes bury st edmundsHavebury Housing Partnership have just completed Goodfellows, an eco homes development in Kings Road, Bury St Edmunds. The building has been constructed using what looks like rough sawn timber and provides a contrast to the adjacent modern buildings of the `Bury Strip`. Its a great location but there is no car parking provided.

It has been built to provide affordable homes for residents in Bury St Edmunds. We fitted some vertical blinds in one of the one bedroom flats. They have a kitchen, dining and lounge area with an en suite bedroom. Next week we are installing some vertical blinds in the two bedroom flat next door.

Guide wires have been incorporated about one metre from the external walls of the building. Wisteria vines have been planted which will over time grow up and along the guide wires and cover the outside of the building. Apparently the wisteria will not cover the windows and darken the inside of the building. It should look great when the vines eventually grow over the outside.

Visit to the chiropractor

The other day we fitted a (cream) blackout roller blind in Fiona Jacobs consulting room at the Bury St Edmunds Chiropractic Clinic. (Blackout blinds dont have to be black)

I have a problem with my shoulder and visited the clinic for an appointment with Fiona. During the consultation Fiona scanned the poorly shoulder. The blackout blind didnt make the room completely black but it reduced the light level in the room significantly which allowed us to see the tendons and muscles on the screen much more clearly.

It was very satisfying and unusual for me see our blackout roller blinds  providing a solution to a problem in the work place.

Fiona tells me that the shoulder has only sustained minor damage and that she can fix it. Soon I hope!
